It’s the intersectionality of it all.

Meet Sheridan

Sheridan Alford is an Environmental Educator, currently the Director of Community Engagement at Georgia Audubon, with a Master of Natural Resources in Parks, Recreation, and Tourism Management from the University of Georgia. Her fieldwork has taken her across the American South and led her to work with PBS Nature, Oboz Footwear, and others to enhance the minority experience within the outdoors. She helped organize the movement Black Birders Week β€” its goal to increase the visibility and representation of Black birders in the field and to elevate and support diversity in the birding community at large. Sheridan is passionate about citizen science, youth involvement, and the benefits of ecotherapy for mental health.

How can we work together?

I cultivate community opportunities by creating strategic and reciprocally-beneficial partnerships with aligned stakeholders to promote positive and impactful experiences for all. I create spaces for individuals to thrive and work together towards the strategic goal in a cohesive manner. I envision environmental participation that is effective and welcoming and will meet the constituents where they are.
